Application process

 

NZ Police have partnered with Hudson in the the application process for our centre roles. Read below for what is involved.

Communicator roles

1. Application form

Carefully review the job advertisement and determine if it is the right role for you. Then complete a short online application form.

2. Situational judgement questionnaire

If your application progresses through the screening stage, you will then complete a short online questionnaire to view and respond to some scenarios that are common on the job.

3. Phone call

Your application will be reviewed against the requirements of the role and you will receive a phone call from one of our recruitment consultants to welcome you to the selection process for this role. This should take approximately 15-30 minutes.

Please note that at this stage you will also need to complete a Hudson Candidate Information and Consent form and a NZ Police Vetting Service form.

4. Psychometric assessment

If you progress, you will then be invited to complete an abstract reasoning assessment and a personality assessment. This should take about 45 minutes and can be completed online. If you have a disability and require any adjustments, you can discuss your requirements with one of our recruitment consultants or nominated contact person at any stage of the process by contacting us at HelloNZPolice@hudson.com.

5. Video interview and Role play

If you progress, you will be offered a time to complete a remote interview (via video conference) followed by a phone call and written task which showcases the job. We will need to see your ID during this interview so please have this available. You will be provided with more details closer to the time.

6. Panel interview

The final formal stage of this process is a panel interview which requires you to attend a face-to-face interview with New Zealand Police representatives at the centre you have applied for. Click here for more information and useful tips for this interview.

7. Reference Checks

You will be required to provide references from your two most recent positions. These will need to be your manager and not colleagues or character based. If you have only had one previous role we will accept two references for the same position.

8. Medical

If you successfully pass the panel interview stage you will be required to complete a medical using this form.

9. Call listening

At the final step you will be invited to listen to some real calls for around 2-4 hours at the service centre. You will be sitting with someone in the role and will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the role.

10. Offer

Congratulations! You have passed the selection process, you will receive an offer!

2. Phone call

Your application will be reviewed against the requirements of the role and you will receive a phone call from one of our recruitment consultants to welcome you to the selection process for this role. This should take approximately 15 minutes.

This should take about 60 minutes and can be completed online. If you progress, you will be offered a time to complete a remote interview (via video conference). We will need to see your ID during this interview so please have this available. You will be provided with more details closer to the time.

The interview will include behaviour-based questions so you can demonstrate how you have successfully applied the capabilities of the role in your work. You can prepare for the interview by reviewing the capability requirements for the role and reflecting on how you’ve demonstrated these capabilities in the workplace before.
